I see he has been developing a more mature and composed version of his character in his time away from cricket

What ticks me off is that I was kind of on his side earlier, when he took time off, in the same way I was/am on Marcus Trescothick’s side and Lou Vincent’s. They were going through rough times with emotional and mental issues, and I’ve seen firsthand how shit that can be for anyone to deal with.

Apparently my concern/support is best reserved for those two. The non-jackass-y ones.

Looks like therapy has been working for him.

If someone scoops your 155 KMP missiles for consequent sixes, probably only thing you can do as a bowler is that … Dirty Dirk seemed to take it into stride and move on though.

Ranjan Madugalle, the Head of the Match Referees panel, is the match referee for this game.

Per the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel

    2.2 Level 2 Offences

2.2.8 Using language or gesture(s) that is seriously obscene, seriously
offensive or of a seriously insulting nature to another Player, Player
Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other third
    person during an International Match.
Note: It is acknowledged that there will be verbal exchanges between
Players in the course of play. Rather than seeking to eliminate these
exchanges entirely, Umpires will be required to report such conduct that
falls below an acceptable standard. This offence is not intended to
    penalise trivial behaviour.
When assessing the seriousness of the breach, the Umpire shall be required
to take into account the context of the particular situation and whether the
words or gesture are likely to: (a) be regarded as seriously obscene; or (b) give
serious offence; or (c) seriously insult another person.
This offence is not intended to cover any use of language or gestures that
are likely to offend another person on the basis of their race, religion, gender,
colour, descent, national or ethnic origin. Such conduct is prohibited under
the ICC’s Anti-Racism Code and must be dealt with according to the
    procedures set out therein.

    WWRD?

    Cheers,

I didn’t see the match (bloody SkyPlayer) but I want to give Shaunie the benefit of the doubt – is that smile on his face meaningful in this context? In other words, is he being a twat or is this just a bit of clowning that he should have thought through more? I’m asking in hope but I assume otherwise, else Uncle J wouldn’t have put it up.

    Can anyone enlighten me?

I think McCullum had the last and biggest laugh when Tait made a cock of himself (again) by bowling 2 wides in the Super over to gift the Kiwis the match.

Pup confirms his uselessness as a T20 captain by using the teams most unreliable and expensive bowler at the death when any one with 1/2 a brain would use an economical one.

  16. Rishabh  •  Feb 28, 2010 @20:23

He’s just having a bit of fun. After all, B-Mac gave him the cricket equivalent of the birdie several times. 155 kmph be damned.

    214 tie. Wow.

First time i see cameron white scoring big with sbig strike rate in international inning.

Mccullum has his of his crazy slog inning. ( he will be out of form next 20 matches).

Oram done squat ( he is a free ticket passenger in the team for last 2 years. it seems big frame body helps him feed food freely). CSK should dump his arse.

DIRK and Tait got the stick finally…aussies were gloating like they got 150+kmph speed bowlers.. won’t work on flat small ground in NZ or India.

Best way to bowl to Mccullum is yorkers ..anything pitched he slogs/ big slice it either side. Why people not reading about mccullum scoring strokes in film room? ego probably.

Once tait bowls to sehwag , he will again go into mental exhaution…hahaha :D

  18. Nick  •  Feb 28, 2010 @22:27

i like Tait :( leave the poor guy alone!

  19. skroegerj  •  Feb 28, 2010 @22:44

I wonder if Shaun Tait is gonna require more sessions with his shrink after the hiding Brendon McCullum gave him yesterday.

  20. Celtic  •  Feb 28, 2010 @22:58

I’d be a bit upset too if some wanker was hitting my 155kph yorkers for six too.

  21. alex  •  Mar 1, 2010 @00:37

I do not think mccullum can hit perfect yorkers. He moves up and down to make yorkers full toss or pitched , he has a method of SLICING!. it works once in every 20 games and he see mentally retarded bowler like ishant sharma , he feasts on them.

  22. Shaitaan  •  Mar 1, 2010 @05:55

@Beggy. “A bit of clowning” — right. Like Brett Lee’s beamers –he always apologised so nicely after each one.

Shouldn’t it would be the other way – Mccullum showing it to Tait.

Oops.,remove the “would” from the prev.post.

  27. deano  •  Mar 3, 2010 @11:01

Aussies misery continues!! NZ win first One Dayer. Mitchell Johnson loses his rag after being hit for four, tells Styris he is going to hit him in the head. Styris hits him for another four, Johnson totally loses it. Styris gets even more pumped, takes NZ to victory.

How to beat a bully? Stand up to them. That is what the Pakis and Windies should have done. They may not have actually won games, but they would have at least shown some balls, like a Styris or a McCullum.

  28. Big Dave  •  Mar 4, 2010 @23:48

Johnson an Tait are total idiots. Johnson showed how much brains he had when he head-butted someone who had a helmet on….total NUT….Tait thought his lighting speed will threaten batters…but he doesnt know you dont have to hit a ball with all your might….just deflect it to the right spaces and they’ll be lotsa fours……he should bowl to Tendulka and Lara…thy will make a bigger fool out of him.
