I started off writing a blurb about unknown Australian cricketers playing as naturalised Poms or Kolpaks in the UK, and it turned into an epic.

Go to crikey if you are interested.

I’ve been waiting for someone to write about this. I said a similar thing on a radio show during the IPL a few months back. Everyone rips on the IPL for supposedly stealing players and making them choose cash over country, but no one calls out County Cricket for doing the same. Jacques Rudolph anyone? I didn’t hear a peep in April when Essex forced the South African born Ryan ten Doeschate to abandon the Netherlands squad and come back to Essex in the middle of the 2011 World Cup Qualifiers. Meanwhile everyone is crying about Flintoff/Pietersen and the West Indies guys like Gayle staying in South Africa in the IPL until the last minute. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. As you wrote, the list is endless.
