Australia

Steam rolled England in every way.

England

Bad fielding, shocking captaincy and poor bowling. Then there was the batting. If England were your kid you’d have them on suicide watch.

Can we get a result

Yes. Although, it is still raining in Cardiff. Lucky they spent a kabillion AUD on upgrading their drainage. 8 wickets won’t be that easy to take, but if you bowl straight (something England was conspicuously indifferent too) the seamers will be a factor. North and Hauritz will have to chip in.

Play of the day

Marcus North diving in for his first ashes hundred even though the ball was no where near the stumps and he was pretty much already in the crease anyway. Colly getting hit in the head at slip was fun too.

Testicular moment of the day

The entire English team for coming out on the ground after lunch. Also any English player who did any media after the day.

Working class moment

Haddin and North can share this one. While it was prettier than the average working class moment, it wont be the partnership (or the hundreds) that people talk about from this game. When you make the third and fourth hundreds in the innings people tend to talk about the first two more.

106 overs were bowled in England’s first innings and Ponting did not toss the ball to North once. I thought he was picked as the number 1 spinner?

Haurtiz bowling hand grenades versus a fair bit of poop from Monty and that self-proclaimed champion Swann yesterday? Amazing what a bit of confidence can do for an ordinary bowler. The bugger might get another test now and Australia’s no 1 spinner wont get a bowl
