The dirty diseased ICLers are being dragged out of Quarantine, and one day could end up as real live International and Domestic cricketers again.
Hallelujah, praise the Lalit.
Lalit might be an asshole, but what an asshole he is; in one foul swoop he has ended the ICL.
How could it possibly run a tournament now?
They are broke, broken, and they will lose more than a few of their better players from this.
Guys like Imran Nazir, Shane Bond and Stuary Binny will surely be on the shopping list of the KKR and Bangalore train wrecks.
And the best thing is that this all happened because ICL players came to the BCCi and ‘admitted their mistake’.
They admitted that it was a mistake to try pay their mortgages off quicker, especially the ones who signed up before the IPL even existed.
This is just for the Indian players, because the BCCi has no say over cricketers from other nations.
Pause.
This should now end all the bullshit with the ICL players once and for all.
The players can’t come straight back into International cricket, there is a one year punishment that goes with coming back and saying you’re wrong.
Apparently Lalit will individually take each player over his knee and whack them until they cry.
No one will spank Tony Greig, well, someone will, but for pleasure, not pain.

The sooner Bond gets back into NZ colours the better. ImagineBond and J Franklin opening the bowling?
I’m trembling.
Jrod,
Modi has been even smarter than that with his wording.
They are allowed to play Indian domestic cricket for a year, and then internationals.
Presumably the former includes the IPL.
So he’s making sure his love-child invention can get the best players, while continuing to use internationals as the punishment.
J64,
Get fucked.
Huh?
I’m genuinely a fan of one J Franklin. And Bond is one of the best in the business.
I get a bit prickly when my radar senses someone taking the piss out of NZ’s only remaining all-rounder.
Well at least the ex-IPL players could take loads of drugs for the next year
the icl should go on..
with former pakistan and nz cricketers..
i think bond/chris martin would be more fearsome
Actually, a line up of Bond/ Martin/ Franklin/ Vettori is not that bad.
Throw in the blogger boy and it’s a reasobaly good attack.
This is bad news. Who will now be blamed for all the ills of NZ, Eng and Aus cricket? Modi, not fair, You are supposed to be a villain of the piece as far as world cricket is concerned – behave like one. Statesmanship should be left to jrod.
Raj, fuck off and take the chip off of your shoulder will you.
The only reason anyone had a dig at Lalit Modi in the first place, was because he arranged for people who had signed contracts with ICL (which was around a good month or so before the IPL), to never be allowed to play domestic or international cricket again. It’s only after lengthy legal challenges to the respective cricket boards, that it’s been realised that it is not enforceable.
New Zealand and Pakistan probably lost out more than any others because of this.
The fact that he’s a drug addled, kidnapping gangster, is the reason we all slate the money hungry wankshit now.
this is Lalit Modi trying to bend without breaking
to me this is a sign that all is not well with his IPL –
so far he had his back turned to the sea believing he would never have to cross it
now camerapersons are being told to avoid showing empty stands
when the accountants balances the respective franchise ledgers, I’ll be interested how he
can force them to avoid showing the empty coffers
the waves probably has parted for now,
he still has to reach the other bank before water come swirling back
and then he will have to defend defying a court order prohibiting from leaving the country
i think 8 teams in india is unsustainable. why not make it a 10 team intl league?
IPL is doing better than expected in SA. I had initially assumed all stands in all matches would be empty. But that is not the case. Obviously stands will be empty for matches during the week because people have to go to work. All matches take place during Indian prime time and not when it is convinient for South Africans.
The IPL ratings has been pretty decent in India and no matter how much Lalit or some other people try, it will always remain a Indian tournament with mainly Indian viewers. Next year when it comes back to India then everything will be back to normal. But even then, it is doing pretty well considering its being played in SA.
Nothing like chuckers and Modi to bring out the rage in commentators, so fuck you too raj
there’s a lot of fucking going around it seems here jrod.
Guys, this chip on the shoulder is the oldest trick to try and shut up someone who is holding a mirror to your ugly faces. But you know, it doesnt affect me. I dont care what you guys think – I’ll keep holding the mirror in front of your face – if you find a ugly reflection, then realise that the problem is not with me
Raj, Michael Slater held a mirror up to his face in the toilet on the plane from Sydney to London in 1993 and set the greatest cricket record of all time. He did not see an ugly reflection at the time
I think Modi has been smart to cash in just when ICL has been going through a financial crunch and has been looking to release players from their contract. knowing very well that the bans could not have been legally sustained, he made a virtue out of a necessity. Love the way he calls it ‘Amnesty’
Chinaman, IPL2 has surpassed whatever meager expectations people had. The stands may not be full but I think I am surprised people are even turning up on weekday afternoons. But the spirit has been fantastic during the weekend games, specially a Port Elizabeth (The band and football-style singing was awesome). Hats off to the South Africans – They love their sport (or at least their beer)
@saurabh – kicking someone in the balls when they are down is not smart…its common sense.
Where have all the mild-mannered, cat loving, cricket boffins gone?
This sort of cussing is to be expected from Suave, but he’s English(?) and has everyright to be angry.
Fuck it, I’ll wade-into the shit as well….
Raj obvioulsy loves to wind people up with his inflammatory opinions… claiming everyone else is a racist. Have you looked in the mirror recently Raj?
And btw – i don’t think eng and Aus lost any frontline players to the ICL… so why would they blame Lalit? Mainly pak, NZ and Bangladesh? affected. Countries like NZ have a very small player pool and can’t afford to lose a world class fast bowler like Bond. With all due respect to Franklin, he doesn’t instil the fear opening the attack like Bond would.
Lalit will still be disliked, not only for the reasons Suave pointed out, but because he’s still the big swinging dick of cricket.
sla,
well said.
Well, I am not tone cussing around. I have been forceful with my arguments but thats it. People cannot refute logic, resort to cussing, so whats my fault there? Have I personally attacked anyone like others have done to me? No. I have merely put my opinion across. Maybe forecfully but I have done nothing more. If you can, refute that logically. If not, resort to cusses. That is your choice but know that I have never knowingly resorted to mere cussing like many have done against me. So, first personally attacking me tastelessly and even if I respond civilly, branding me the same as your uncivil behaviour – thats rather cynical and stupid. Basically, around here, I have been the Aussie Cricketer and the others have been clueless subcontinental cricketers who dont know how to respond within the borderline of the rules and therefore claim that one is spotless, and end up physically abusing or hurting the Aussie cricketer and getting banned or punished
By your own sledging is fair logic but reacting violently to sledging is unfair, I am fair and you guys have been obnoxious
Countries like NZ have a very small player pool and can’t afford to lose a world class fast bowler like Bond.
well if he’s a world class fast bowler, why don’t nzc pay him accordingly? pay him so he doesn’t have to make a choice between test cricket and a bit of hit and giggle in third rate domestic competition in india?
but here is the kicker. 79 wickets in 8 years of test cricket doesn’t make you a world class bowler.
They do if you only managed 17 matches in that time, and took them at 22 runs per. Add another 150+ ODI wickets at <20 and yes, you do have a world-class bowler. A permanently knacked one, but there you go. Lamborghinis break down every 10 yards or so, they’re still ace.
@simon – its still only 2 wickets an innings. maybe thats how they define world class in kiwiland.
