While we were all waiting for Simon Taufel and Steve Davis to be killed, Sri Lanka cluster fucked Pakistan.

Over 600 runs.

Two double tons, and King Kumar hardly made a dent.

14 months is a long time in cricket, actually its a long time on a bus too.

With half of their more talented players playing regular cricket for the devil in the ICL, Pakistan has come back to test cricket in a new form.

As a minnow.

400 runs were smacked against them on day one, in the late 90s that would happen alot, but now captains usually find a way to stop the carnage.

Pakistan just couldn’t.

It was classic minnow behaviour.

The tide turned against them, and their bowler suddenly looked toothless.

Umar Gul, Danish Kaneria, Shoaib Malik, and Yasir Arafat are better than most minnow bowlers, Heath Streak aside.

But there does not seem to be a leader there, no one who can rip a game apart, or even produce a ball tearing wicketless spell like Freddie and Fidel Edwards just did.

It feels limp.

Sohail Khan going at ovr 6 an over was very much how you expect a young minnow bowler to be handled.

Shoaib Malik is a part time spinner who often bowls full time overs for Pakistan.

Umar Gul is not a great red ball bowler, if i was picking a side he would not be in it.

Yasir Arafat is steady as a rock, but if you were a test batsman you’d be happy to face him.

And Danish Kaneria is not the best leggie from Pakistan playing first class cricket at the momen. He has the skill, but has no flair, imagination, and doesn’t read game situations very well.

Something needs to inspire these boys, because the last thing we need is Pakistan playing the odd test and performing like this.

I grew up with Pakistan as my second favourite team.

But this, this boring rabble, is not my Pakistan, and I refuse to support them in this stale state.

They are only 2 days back, and on a flat track, but i feel the old Pakistan would have given the fans at least one spell or session that was special.

Not two days of limpness.

Younis Redback has a huge job ahead of him.

‘Cluster fuck’ – that’s one kickass phrase. after hearing it on ‘Burn after reading’ really wanted to use it but Pak wasn’t being played by Lanka then.

Is that where I got it from.

Pakistan were cluster fucked by Younis Khan and their coach, first they forced the selectors to make some bizarre decisions then he chose to play with three fast bowlers on a flat batting track and didn’t backed his bowlers by plugging the third man and sweeper region on the first day and allowed the Sri Lankans to post a huge total, while batting he will certainly look like a prince among some below average players on this dull wicket. I have no doubt in my mind that the fate of this match was decided by Younis long before the toss.
Pakistan have entered the era of minnows under Younis.

Wasim, He didn’t put out a sweeper? I like him already.

Old school Pakistan would have been battered for three days and then someone would have taken 8-11 and won them the game on the fourth day.

This Pakistan doesn’t have anyone to do that. A Pakistan that obeys reason and which isn’t capable of winning from impossible situations is not a Pakistan we recognise.

    0/10 – fail

@jrod – not only did he not put out a sweeper but apparently didn’t send out a nightwatchman either. redback younis walked out himself. i hope wing commander is taking notes. or maybe pakistan doesn’t have an anderson?
