I have been accused of unexplainable hatred, and being an absolute nitwit, spastic when talking about Sourav Ganguly, so it’s only fair to listen to what he has to say.

“If there is a gun to your head all the time, how long can you bear this? After all, I have played 400 matches for India. I have played badly in only one series. Yet every Tom, Dick and Harry is playing in the team.”

Yes he really said that.

He also said

“There are players who haven’t scored in the last three series for India, even for the last one year. There are some who have changed their hairstyle more than they have scored for India.”

And

“I was tired of being humiliated again and again.”

One more

“I am bound to feel bad, I had to fight with my heart”.

Actually that one might be a Shakira lyric.

What class, what style, what love for his team mates, oh the intangibles of Dada.

But I have questions.

Who is Dick: Dravid or VVS?

Which one of the 14 series in which he has averaged under 30 is the bad one, or was he talking about one of the two from this year?

And the hairstyles, oh the hairstyles, Surely he can’t mean Dravid, Sachin or VVS, have any of them ever changed their hairstyles more than 3 times in their careers?

Sehwag did change his hair for this series, he’s gone all skin head, but I’m pretty sure Ganguly didn’t mean him.

What sort of man, who has played with these men for ten years comes out and bag champions of the game, his team mates, his former men, mid series, mid match.

Where is the love Ganguly?

And mentioning their hairstyles was a nice touch, it makes me want to walk into a barber shop and ask for the ‘Sourav’.

It takes a special man to refer to himself as a sacrificial goat.

I like to think of myself as an erect badger, that is my intangible.

lol.. Saurav Ganguly the sacrificial goat and UJ the erect badger..the imagery is stunning!!!

    Cheers,

PS:- Odds are that if Saurav does not score this match, we go in with 5 bowlers at Mohali.

    H, its hot as.

He clearly doesn’t want to play until the end of the series.

    Imagine the change room tomorrow…

    PPS:- http://www.indianexpress.com/news/Vengsarkar-hits-out–Ganguly-denies-interview/371843

Honestly, I dont think there will be too many recriminations in the dressing room, just a lot of icy glares.

    Cheers,

Dravid, VVS and Sachin have hardly got any hair left, so he can’t mean them.

Maybe Shane Warne can help them out with that one, though.

I would have thought it was bleedin’ obvious that he wasn’t talking about the other fab 4.

personally i like Ganguly, though that’s not saying much, considering the competition

  6. Leela  •  Oct 10, 2008 @21:38

I think the hair barb was directed at Dhoni. Quite obvious due to the changing hairstyles and lack of runs for Dhoni in test cricket..

I am still deciphering the Tom, Dick and Harry part though.

  7. Pontings_baldspot  •  Oct 10, 2008 @22:35

the “hairstyle” barb was definetly aimed at Dhoni.. He better back this shit up in the first 2 tests..

  8. Pontings_baldspot  •  Oct 10, 2008 @23:58

    Those damn Bengali tabloids…

  9. poopsie  •  Oct 11, 2008 @05:13

it still amazes me that this goose has supporters

    Jumped the gun again,
    haven’t you, JRod?

Ganguly denies comments in Bengali daily

What you have written, and the predictable responses are all based on rumours and untruths.

What is this article of your’s worth?
    Nothing.
Simply let you vent a bit more hatred perhaps.

Do you ever withdraw any of your comments if you find they were untrue? Or is it in case of Ganguly, you simply do not care.

Or do you believe you are doing the world a favour by writing more crap about Ganguly?

    Know what?
I am starting to believe your hatred is nothing to do with him being overrated. It is because you cannot accept an indian successfully thumbing his nose at your team in the past. That would be a more plausible explanation of your hatred.

  11. Jrod  •  Oct 11, 2008 @12:28

Chinaman, when i wrote this, i hadn’t seen him denying these words, and it was written on 7 different websites, so i jumped the gun after almost all the world’s press had, silly me.

What success, the one series win at home when Australia hadn’t won in India in 30 years that i count as my favourite series of all time?

Also, as much as i think Ranatunga was a bit of a cheat, i don’t hate him, neither do i hate Vaughan, and Stephen Fleming, the only other captain to draw
a series at home In Australia this decade.

And i was never a big steve waugh fan, so leaving him out in the sun never really got up my nose.

    But thanks for reading.

  12. ©hinaman  •  Oct 11, 2008 @15:06

    That is the point JRod.
A whole article, time and effort wasted, based on hear say.

I could have argued more, but I do not see any point.

    Opinions differ.
Opinions are never set in stone – they can only be as accurate as the information based upon.
Opinions should be flexible to change.

You have shut the door on the possibility that you may not have the full facts. That, for me is a big big disappointment.

I leave you to entertain your guests who may find it a bother to try and find the truth for themselves.

This is a popular blogsite alright, but not about ‘cricket’.

  13. Dinnie  •  Oct 11, 2008 @18:35

I never believed Ganguly made these comments.

Some sloppy journalism there (I mean the Bengal daily)

  14. poopsie  •  Oct 12, 2008 @02:59

regardless of what was or was not said, ganguly is still a prize goose

  15. Q  •  Oct 12, 2008 @12:00

Ganguly may or may not have made those comments but if there’s any truth to it he is definitely targeting the youth brigade in the ODI side and not at Sachin, Dravid, or Laxman. We all know wat he had to say about those 3 at the press conference in which he announced his retirement.

As for being the sacrifical goat – all i know is that he is the leading Indian batsman in the last 2 year period in terms of runs in test cricket – so why is he a target?

  16. Christopher Poshin David  •  Oct 12, 2008 @13:28

    I cant believe it.

But DADA was not talking bout the fab four but others.

Now if you want my opinion on this visit me at,
    http://christopherdavid007.blogspot.com/

I’m a huge fan of Ganguly so be warned and I will teribbly miss him.

    P.s
I just saw your site today and I love it as It talks bout cricket.

You just got yourself another reader from India so write on.

  17. Anonymous  •  Oct 13, 2008 @04:29

AH jrod. Magic stuff again. Anything that gets people talking about the great game and the Tools that play it can only be a good thing. And let us not forget that Ganguly is one of the Prize Tools to ever play the game, certainly since the era of the professional/amatuer days of olde passed. The man “allegedly” always believed he was to good to mix with his lesser teammates and certainly not with any touring invaders. And who knows who is the leading TEST Player in India. How often do they play TEST cricket and who against. 600 games for India but how many actually meant anything.

  18. Jrod  •  Oct 13, 2008 @05:14

China, hearsay? I hope you went to each and every one of the proper websites and told them how despicable they were to report on this as well, plus the hundreds of blogs that had it.

This is a website that accepts people who disagree with our opinion, fancy that.

Chris, good to see someone can like Ganguly and this site, and that it is not a mutually exclusive concept.

Q, I would have got rid of more than one, but that is me.

  19. Q  •  Oct 13, 2008 @05:50

JRod – I like Ganguly and love this site ;-)
